before anything else
Close the day. Everything follows.
Your body clocks out first. The brain is slower to agree. You can be lying down with the lights off and still be in tomorrow's meeting, still replaying what you said today, still running the list of what everyone else needs from you next.
That gap is the difference between a day that ends and one that just gets interrupted by a few hours of half-sleep before it starts again. More hours awake don't make a good life. Days that are allowed to close do - so the next one can start clean instead of picking up where the last one left off.
That is the foundation Dōpo is built on: a ritual for finishing the day, not a sleep aid stacked on top of an unfinished one.

where it started
Our mom's glass was already waiting.
the brothers
Photo coming soon.
Will and Sam, in their own words for now - a real photo replaces this the day we have one worth using.
Dōpo started on a family vacation. Wine had stopped feeling like a useful way for our mom to wind down. Her body was ready for the day to be over; her mind, and the wine, kept arguing about it. She wanted something naturally sourced that matched how she felt at 10pm, not how a nightcap made her feel at 7am. So we made her a nightly mix - glycine, L-theanine, magnesium, lemon balm, stirred into cold water, nothing hidden in it.
The next evening, her glass was already lined up on the counter, waiting for us before we'd even asked. Then she did it again the night after that. That is the part that got our attention: she reached for it on her own, every night, without being asked.
When we finally asked her why, she put it more plainly than any of our early pitch decks did: "I need the day to be over, and this is the thing that lets me feel like it is." That sentence became the entire brief. Not fall asleep faster. Not sleep score more. Just: give me back the feeling that today is finished.
We are Will and Sam - two brothers who grew up watching our mom run everyone else's day before she ever got to close her own. Dōpo came out of paying attention to the one small thing that worked for her, then refusing to let a supplement industry that hides its doses talk us into complicating it.
This is the founders' account of where Dōpo began. It is not a customer testimonial or a claim about the finished drink.

the quality standard
We signed a manufacturer. We're still not overselling it.
As of this week, the manufacturer is selected and signed - a real, binding agreement, not a plan on a whiteboard. That is genuine progress, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.
Here is exactly what that does and doesn't mean. Every raw ingredient - the glycine, the L-theanine, the magnesium glycinate, the lemon balm - is third-party tested before it reaches the blend; our manufacturer runs certificates of analysis on every raw material that goes in. What hasn't happened yet is a finished-batch test. No Dōpo product has been produced or tested as a finished drink, and we're not going to blur that line to make this week's news sound bigger than it is.
Before anything sellable ships, we still require a written testing plan and finished-lot release criteria, backed by the certificate of analysis. There is no batch or finished-lot certificate yet, so there is nothing to publish. We won't borrow a lab logo or imply a test that hasn't happened.
What we can show you today is the whole formula, on the label, at the doses we plan to ship. No proprietary blend hiding the amounts. No melatonin. If a supplement company won't tell you the dose, that's usually the ingredient doing the least.

the mission
Close the day. That's the whole company.
Own your night. Own your day.
Dōpo is aimed at the twenty minutes before sleep, not sleep itself - the part where your body has already clocked out and your brain hasn't gotten the memo yet. That's a narrower promise than most sleep brands make, and we're making it on purpose.
The category is full of people selling an outcome they can't prove: fall asleep faster, sleep deeper, wake up recharged, guaranteed. We'd rather sell you something we can stand behind - a ritual you control, a formula you can read in full. What that actually buys you is permission to stop performing for the day, thirty minutes before your head hits the pillow. Closing the day well shouldn't be a heroic act. It should be normal.
That's the world we're building toward - not a bigger ingredient stack or a louder promise, just more nights allowed to end on time. One glass, repeated until closing the day is just how the evening goes.
ready when you are
